12 Rules We Live By For a Healthier, Happier Life

Living a healthy lifestyle is so much more than just being conscious about the food you put in your body. Healthy living is about creating balance in all aspects of your life. It is about total wellness of the body, mind and spirit. It is the ability to choose happiness and live life to the fullest. It is the freedom to live your life without worrying about what others are doing or saying. Find what brings you inner peace and immense happiness and do that. What works for us might not work for someone else but that's okay. Our life works for us! We have the power to create the life we want to live so why choose anything less than amazing? Don't be afraid of change. Create a list of life rules to follow. Write them down, print them out, put them up in your office or on the refrigerator at home. Look at them daily!

Here are 12 rules we live by for a healthier and happier life:

  1. Set aside 30-60 minutes to exercise daily.

  2. Be conscious of the food you put in your body. Splurge on organic food, invest in your health.

  3. Travel often and make time now. Jobs fill our pocket, adventure fills our soul. All we have is now.

  4. Eat dinner as a family, no cell phones allowed. Start the meal with a prayer to give thanks.

  5. Take 5-10 minutes each day to reflect on your blessings and all you have to be grateful for.

  6. Be a sleep snob, allow yourself 7-8 hours of restful sleep each night.

  7. Make your health a top priority. When you are at 100%, you can show up better for others.

  8. Don't worry about others opinions of you. Be true to who you are and always come from love.

  9. Do good favors often out of the kindness of your heart, not expecting anything in return.

  10. Let go of attachment to materialistic things, focus on experiences instead. Simplify your life.

  11. Embrace the power of touch. Take time to hug everyday. Not the butt out, tap on the back kind of hug, a good, strong genuine hug. Hugging releases oxytocin, the love and feel good hormone.

  12. Surround yourself by positive people who lift you higher. Time is the most valuable asset so share it with those who love you for who you are.
